STRATFORD RETREAT
This modern backyard was inspired by homeowner’s preferred gardens of Luciano Giubbilei and is an extension of the interior design. Proportion, dimension and rhythm run through the entire design: key qualities that define the spaces and the detailing of each space.
Starting with the cedar fence as part of the design by horizontal boards as architectural elements and continue with a light open pergola over the floated deck that links the sitting area to the dining area which is framed by inlay clay bricks followed by a natural stepping stone flagstone walkway. Once you step in from the front door entrance you can see through the hallway all the way to the back fence the piece of resistance, homeowner’s favorite element- the mirror.
The exiting different levels of the land opens up the view from the upper terrace to a lower green and lush parterre balanced by an architectural wooden bench, resting at the other side of the parterre.

The dynamic forms of all the evergreen hedges along with the espaliered trees, create complimentary relationship with the architectural lines of the garden beds.
